YS Sharmila has officially joined and merged her political party, YSRTP into Indian National Congress. Previously, she worked alongside her brother, current AP CM YS Jagan, after their father YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s death. Post 2019 victory of YSRCP, she deferred from her brother’s party, YSRCP in AP and put up YSRTP in Telangana.
Her move was attributed to some personal differences between her and her brother’s family. Even their mother YS Vijayamma, has also moved to Telangana with her daughter. Both of them started living in their Lotus Pond House, Banjara Hills. YS Sharmila has decided to contest in Telangana Assembly Elections in 2023. But she pulled out in last moment to support Congress in the state against BRS.
Now, Congress has invited her to join them and merge her party. She accepted the invitation and flew to Delhi. In front of Rahul Gandhi, she officially joined Indian National Congress on the 4th morning. She met even Sonia Gandhi and had a 15-minutes meeting. She announced that she would gladly work in any position party decides for her.
She also pledged that she would work for making Rahul Gandhi, Prime Minister of India. She stated that her father, YS Rajasekhar Reddy, wanted to see Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister as a loyal Congress man. Experts are in opinion that Congress will deploy YS Sharmila against YS Jagan in AP for upcoming Assembly and Parliament Elections. If she manages to divide YSR Followers vote or campaign against YS Jagan, TDP – JSP coalition could benefit.
