With just weeks to go before hitting cinemas, WAR 2 is yet to spark the kind of public interest expected from a high-budget action film. Despite boasting big names like Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, the project has not made the desired impact among moviegoers. Trailer of War 2.
In contrast, Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, is generating massive attention across the country. The film has taken over social media and fan circles, with updates and posters going viral in multiple languages. The buzz has put pressure on WAR 2, whose teaser received a lukewarm response and did little to lift its profile.
Sources close to the production reveal that the team is currently reworking parts of the film. A major dance number featuring both Hrithik and NTR is now in the pipeline, planned for filming in early July. The hope is that the song will inject some excitement and help the film gain traction before release.
While WAR 2 promises slick visuals and intense action, insiders believe that might not be enough—especially since Coolie is arriving on the same day. The latter features a multi-industry cast including Nagarjuna, Upendra, and Aamir Khan, giving it strong nationwide appeal.
In the Telugu-speaking regions, Jr NTR remains the main crowd-puller for WAR 2. Trade experts suggest that the film’s marketing needs to shift focus quickly, putting NTR front and centre to connect better with southern audiences. Director Ayan Mukerji, known for his work in Hindi cinema, may not have the same recognition in the South as someone like S.S. Rajamouli.
Unless the makers ramp up their promotions—especially in regions outside the Hindi belt—WAR 2 could find itself playing catch-up. With Coolie already dominating the conversation, the battle between the two blockbusters may well begin long before they reach theatres.
