Vishwak Sen has become Mass ka Das of current Telugu Cinema. He has been looking to give memorable blockbusters to improve his market and image in the audiences. His Gaami, which was in production for 7 years, released on 8th March 2024. Movie has earned Rs.20 crores at the box office over the weekend and became a blockbuster.
But the film has faced online maligning campaign. There have been several down votes and low rating for the film on ticketing website, “Book my Show”. Vishwak Sen addressed the same in a press meet few days ago and even stated that he would address it soon on social media, too. Now, he wrote an open letter thanking audiences for making the movie, a hit, despite the malign campaign.
Vishwak Sen wrote, “DEAR ESTEEMED AUDIENCE AND FELLOW CINEMA ENTHUSIASTS, I EXTEND MY HEARTFELT GRATITUDE TO EACH ONE OF YOU FOR CONTRIBUTING TO THE TREMENDOUS SUCCESS OF GAAMI, MAKING IT A BLOCKBUSTER. HOWEVER, I FEEL COMPELLED TO ADDRESS A CONCERNING ISSUE THAT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION. IT HAS COME TO MY NOTICE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN PERSISTENT ATTACKS ON THE FILM’S REPUTATION ON PLATFORMS LIKE BOOKMYSHOW, WITH NUMEROUS BOTS UNFAIRLY GIVING IT A RATING OF 1 OUT OF 10. THIS MALICIOUS BEHAVIOR IS EVIDENT WHEN GENUINE RATINGS OF 9 OR 10 SUDDENLY DROP TO 1.”
He continued to thank audiences despite attempts to pull him down. He wrote, “HOW MANY HOURS TIMES YOU TRY TO PULL ME DOWN AS DANGEROUS AS ELASTIC TO GO UP MORE. WHILE I AM UNAWARE OF THE MOTIVES OR INDIVIDUALS BEHIND THESE ACTIONS, I WISH TO EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE TO THOSE WHO HAVE SUPPORTED QUALITY CINEMA DURING ITS RELEASE. I EXTEND MY THANKS TO THE MEDIA, CRITICS, AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE AUDIENCE. REST ASSURED, APPROPRIATE LEGAL MEASURES WILL BE PURSUED TO ADDRESS THIS MATTER. BUM BOLE NATHA. Jai Hind.”
Well, several films seems to be facing similar issues with bots voting movie down and commenting on films’ as flops and disasters on the release day itself. Industry needs to address this issue as an united force as all heroes are facing these malign campaigns at some or other level.
