ZEE5, India’s largest home-grown video streaming platform, is set to release its first-ever Telugu original detective series, Vikkatakavi: The Chronicles of Amaragiri, premiering on November 28. Produced by Ram Talluri of SRT Entertainments, directed by Pradeep Maddali, and written by Teja Desharaj, the series promises a thrilling blend of historical intrigue and mystery, set against the rich cultural backdrop of Telangana.
The series is set in the soon-to-be-submerged province of Amaragiri, where a young detective, Ramakrishna (played by Naresh Agastya), is called upon to investigate a chilling mystery. Villagers in the region have been losing their memories after entering the Nallamalla Forest at night, and they believe it to be the curse of a goddess. As Ramakrishna digs deeper, he uncovers a dark secret involving political intrigue, a historical conspiracy, and the tragic death of a royal son. As the province faces imminent submergence under the Krishna River, Ramakrishna must race against time to solve the mystery before all the secrets of Amaragiri are lost forever.

Naresh Agastya, in his second collaboration with ZEE5 after the hit Paruvu, stars as Ramakrishna, bringing depth to the role of a young detective driven by both personal and professional stakes. “Playing Ramakrishna in Vikkatakavi has been both exciting and challenging. The character’s resilience and determination to uncover the truth make him truly admirable, and I am confident that audiences will love the layers of mystery we’ve created,” Naresh shared.
The cast also features Megha Akash as the royal princess Lakshmi, with Joju George and others playing pivotal roles. The series promises a rich narrative and stunning performances, set against the lush landscapes of 1970s Telangana.
