Tollywood stars may look effortlessly fit on screen, but maintaining that physique often comes at the cost of favourite foods and strict calorie counting. However, according to Upasana Konidela, wife of Ram Charan and daughter-in-law of Megastar Chiranjeevi, the two actors manage to enjoy hearty meals while keeping themselves in shape through regular workouts.
Upasana, who is also the Vice Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals, recently opened up in a candid YouTube interview, revealing some endearing personal details about her superstar husband and legendary father-in-law. She shared that Ram Charan is a devoted fan of South Indian cuisine, with a particular fondness for rasam rice. “No matter where we are in the world, he always wants Indian food — specifically South Indian food — at least once a day,” she said.
Upasana revealed the favourite food of Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan. She also revealed a household favourite: Chiranjeevi’s special dosa, which tastes even better when paired with spicy mango pickle. Upasana fondly recalled how, during their courtship days, she once challenged Charan to bring her a famous ice cream from Hyderabad, a playful moment she cherishes.
Speaking about their relationship, Upasana stressed that theirs wasn’t a grand, dramatic romance like in Magadheera. Instead, it was built on mutual understanding and companionship, which eventually led to marriage.
On the professional front, Ram Charan, fresh from his role in Game Changer, is currently shooting for Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana. The film has generated significant buzz, with Charan undergoing a complete transformation for the role, even learning the Rayalaseema dialect. Janhvi Kapoor stars opposite him, and the film is scheduled for release on March 27 next year.
From wholesome family traditions to blockbuster movie sets, the Konidela household seems to balance indulgence, discipline, and a shared love for authentic South Indian food, proving that even superstars make time for simple joys.
