Tumbbad 2

‘Tumbbad’ has emerged as one of the most anticipated films in recent times. After its initial release, the film was made available on OTT platforms across various languages and has been receiving positive feedback from audiences. Additionally, a teaser announcing the sequel, ‘Tumbbad 2,’ has also been released, generating excitement among fans. Actor and director Sohum Shah recently shared some insights regarding the sequel during an interview.

Sohum stated that ‘Tumbbad 2’ aims to surpass the first installment. When asked about the challenges of making a sequel amid the rising popularity of horror-comedy films like Stree and Munjya, he explained that there is a significant difference in storytelling. “While there is no issue in producing comedy horror films back-to-back, Tumbbad is distinct,” he said. “The film is inspired by stories told by our grandmothers and reflects a period drama, not contemporary society. It features angels and demons, which adds to its uniqueness.”

During the re-release of Tumbbad, Sohum expressed gratitude to the audience for their continued interest in the film, which has motivated the team as they prepare for ‘Tumbbad 2.’ “Your love and support made the first film possible, and now creating the second part feels much easier. We are currently in the pre-production phase, and the script has been finalized. We will be heading to the sets soon.”

Inspired by Maharashtra’s folk tales, Tumbbad was filmed in authentic locations, capturing the essence of the region, including shooting during the actual rainy season. Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, the teaser for ‘Tumbbad 2’ hints at thrilling developments, featuring a child asking if ‘Hastar will come again’ and a voice saying, “the door will open again.” Exciting times lie ahead as the team gears up for the sequel.
