Thangalaan, a period drama starring Chiyaan Vikram in the direction of Pa. Ranjith, trailer has been unveiled on 10th July. Renowned for his chameleon like shape shifting skills as an actor Vikram, worked hard for 2 years to bring this movie and play this character. And it shows in the trailer too.
The movie follows a tribal community who have been appointed by British rulers to exploit gold mines. While they go on an expedition to explore the mines and dig out in old style, the tribe faces curses of witches in a land. They try to overcome these curses and find the gold. Vikram plays their leader, who becomes Thangalaan by leading them through the tough course.
Pa. Ranjith after directing films like Kabali, Kaala, Sarpatta Parambarai started making Thangalaan. KE Gnanavelraja is producing the movie on Studio Green production house. The makers wanted to release the movie way back in January but they did not finish the post production works by that time.
They took their time to get good Pan-India release date while giving time to post production works to be finished at good quality. Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone are playing important leading roles in the film apart from Vikram. G. V. Prakash Kumar composed music for the film.
Thangalaan trailer impresses us with unique visual sense and different theme. Pa. Ranjith has guts to make a huge experiment with Chiyaan Vikram. As he is been trying to choose scripts that suit his image as an actor-star, Vikram seems to have found another different one for us.
