In response to widespread rumors about the potential closure of theatres across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the Telugu Film Chamber has issued an official statement to clarify the situation and dispel misinformation.
Telugu Film Chamber Secretary Mr. K.L. Damodar Prasad stated, “Due to recent rumors, we convened a meeting at the Film Chamber with key producers, exhibitors, and distributors from both Telugu states to discuss the challenges facing the theatre industry in detail.
Reports suggesting that theatres would shut down starting May 1st are completely false and speculative. We want to emphasize that there are no plans to close any theatres.
On May 30th, we will hold an Executive Committee meeting to form a joint committee comprising representatives from producers, distributors, and exhibitors. This committee will work within a specific timeframe to address the industry’s current issues.
We urge the public and media to rely solely on official statements from the Film Chamber or its affiliated organizations. Spreading unverified news is causing unnecessary panic and confusion within the film industry.
If needed, we are open to engaging with the government, as we have done previously, to resolve these matters.
The film industry has always resolved its internal issues independently, without external intervention.
Lastly, we firmly deny rumors that the alleged shutdown targets any specific film. Our collective goal is to address these challenges swiftly and constructively.”
The meeting saw participation from prominent industry figures, including Prasanna Kumar, Sridhar, Sudhakar Reddy, Shiva Prasad Rao, K.L. Damodar Prasad, Bharat Bhushan, Venkateswara Rao, Sunil Narang, Anupam Reddy, Bharat Chowdary, T.S. Ram Prasad, C. Kalyan, Muthyala Ramadas, M. Sudhakar, and others.
