SS Rajamouli’s surprise role in Death Stranding 2 delights fans

S S Rajamouli

Indian filmmaker SS Rajamouli, well known for his work on Baahubali and RRR, has now stepped into the gaming world. He and his son, SS Karthikeya, have made a brief appearance in the upcoming video game Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

The game, created by famous Japanese developer Hideo Kojima, includes two characters called “The Adventurer” and “Adventurer’s Son,” which many believe are based on Rajamouli and his son. Their digital cameos have been spotted by early-access players, creating buzz among gamers and film fans alike.

This collaboration comes after SS Rajamouli and Karthikeya had an online conversation with Kojima. The meeting sparked rumours of a joint project. Rajamouli also visited Kojima’s studio in Japan during the promotion of RRR in 2022. There, he got a chance to view a 360-degree presentation of Kojima’s latest work, giving him a glimpse into the world of high-end game design.

Although the appearance is short and not a lead role, it shows how Rajamouli’s growing international fame is taking him beyond the film industry. The inclusion of him and his son adds a special surprise for fans of both cinema and gaming.

Death Stranding 2 continues Kojima’s style of mixing stunning visuals with deep storytelling. It features stars like Norman Reedus, Elle Fanning, and Léa Seydoux. The game is set to launch globally on 26 June 2025, only on the PlayStation 5.
