Malayalam actor Pranav Mohanlal, son of superstar Mohanlal, has made a strong mark in South Indian cinema with his unique film choices. After winning hearts across languages with Hridayam, he is now returning to the big screen with his latest mystery thriller, Dies Irae. The film is set for release in the Telugu states through the well-known banner Sri Sravanthi Movies.
Directed by Rahul Sadasivan, who earlier made Bhoothakaalam and Bramayugam, Dies Irae is described as a dark and thought-provoking mystery drama. The film stars Sushmita Bhatt, Jibin Gopinath, Jaya Kurup, Manohari Joy, and Arun Ajikumar in key roles alongside Pranav. It has been jointly produced by Night Shift Studios and Wayanad Studios, with Christo Xavier composing the music.
Sri Sravanthi Movies, led by Ravi Kishore, has previously brought several acclaimed non-Telugu films to Telugu audiences, including Pushpaka Vimanam, Nayakudu, and Raghuvaran BTech. Each of these releases achieved both critical and commercial success. Given this strong record, there are high expectations for Dies Irae among filmgoers and trade circles alike.
The Malayalam and Tamil versions of Dies Irae are slated for release on 31 October 2025, while the Telugu version is expected to arrive in theatres in the first week of November. Sri Sravanthi Movies will distribute the Malayalam version in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as well.
Pranav Mohanlal, known for being selective with his scripts, is said to have chosen Dies Irae for its gripping story and emotional depth. The film’s tone is intense, with themes of fear, guilt, and redemption interwoven into a suspenseful narrative.
Following the success of Malayalam films like Premalu, 2018, Manjummel Boys, and Kotha Loka in Telugu, expectations are high that Dies Irae will continue this trend and connect strongly with Telugu audiences.
