Sutravaakyam begins streaming on OTT

Soothravakyam

Malayalam mystery thriller Soothravakyam, featuring Shine Tom Chacko and Vinci in lead roles, has now arrived on OTT platforms after a mixed theatrical run. The film, directed by Eugene Jose Chirammil and produced by Kandregula Lavanya Rani, released in cinemas earlier but is now reaching a wider audience through streaming.

From 21 August, the Malayalam version of Soothravakyam is available on Lionsgate Play, while the Telugu-dubbed version is streaming on ETV Win. Although the makers initially planned to release the film in theatres in both Malayalam and Telugu, they were unable to bring the Telugu version to cinemas. The team, however, was keen to make the film available in Telugu, and OTT has now provided the perfect platform to reach regional audiences.

Shine Tom Chacko, who is best known to Telugu viewers for his performance as the antagonist in Nani’s Dasara, gained significant appreciation for his strong screen presence. His work in Dasara opened doors for further opportunities in Telugu cinema, and with Soothravakyam now streaming in Telugu, his reach among Telugu audiences is likely to expand further.

Despite the anticipation, the film was also clouded by controversy during its production. Actress Vinci publicly accused Shine Tom Chacko of misbehaving with her on set while under the influence of alcohol. The allegations created a storm in the Malayalam film industry for several days. However, Vinci has since clarified that the matter was resolved, stating that Shine Tom Chacko apologised for his behaviour and that the issue is now behind them.

As Soothravakyam lands on streaming platforms, all eyes are on how digital audiences will respond to the thriller. With both Malayalam and Telugu versions now accessible, the film has a chance to reach viewers beyond its initial theatrical footprint. The story’s mix of mystery and drama, combined with Shine Tom Chacko’s rising popularity, could give the film a new lease of life in the OTT space.
