Chikiri Chikiri

The much-talked-about track from the upcoming film Peddi (also known as RC16), titled “Chikiri Chikiri”, has sparked curiosity, and now the lyricist has revealed the idea behind it.

The song, featuring global star Ram Charan alongside Janhvi Kapoor, and with music by A. R. Rahman, was launched to much fanfare. It has already become a trending topic on YouTube. Yet, attentive listeners noticed that the lyrics include unusual rural-flavoured terms such as “saRuku saamaana” (goods & merchandise) that you normally wouldn’t hear in a typical love song.

Lyricist Balaji has now explained that this is entirely intentional. He states that his brief from director Buchchi Babu was unique. The story is set in a village-environment and the male lead (played by Ram Charan) grows up in that rustic setting. According to Balaji, the director told him: “The hero’s feeling for the heroine is not pure love at first, it’s a kind of desire.”

Balaji says he used those earthy, native phrases in the chorus to reflect that raw, unfiltered emotion, rather than a conventional romantic declaration. The lyricist adds that the moment the heroine enters his world, things begin to change, the journey begins from a place of craving and moves towards something deeper.

The revelation has heightened viewers’ expectations for the film. Peddi is presented by producers VVR Cinema (assuming that is the company) and stars not only Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, but also prominent names such as Shiv Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyendu Sharma and Boman Irani in key roles. The film is scheduled to release on 27 March 2026.

With “Chikiri Chikiri” offering a glimpse into the film’s emotional tone, many are now keen to see how the plot develops from raw desire into something more profound.
