Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi

Actor Sivakarthikeyan’s next big film Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara, is set to release on 14 January 2026, during the Sankranti festival season. The official release posters were shared recently, ending confusion around the release date.

There were earlier talks of delaying the film to avoid a box-office clash with Thalapathy Vijay’s final film Jananayakan, which is also releasing during the same festive season. However, the makers of Parasakthi have now decided to stay in the race.

Parasakthi is a period drama where Sivakarthikeyan plays a student leader. The film also stars Sri Leela as the female lead, with supporting roles by Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa, and Basil Joseph.

Industry experts feel the release is a risky move, as Vijay’s fans are eagerly waiting for Jananayakan, making competition tough. Another big film featuring Suriya and Vikram was reportedly shifted to summer to avoid clashing with Vijay’s movie.

For Sivakarthikeyan, Parasakthi comes at a crucial time. After his film Amaran became a blockbuster, his next movie Madarasi did not perform well, disappointing both fans and trade analysts. A hit is needed now to regain momentum.

The challenge is even bigger as Parasakthi will also release in Telugu, where it will face competition from several Sankranti releases like Shankar Varaprasad, Raja Saab, a Ravi Teja film, and Nari Nari Naduma Murari starring Sharwanand.

Despite the crowd, the makers are confident about the film’s strong content. The teaser of Parasakthi has already raised expectations, and with Sudha Kongara’s direction, audiences are looking forward to an intense performance from Sivakarthikeyan.

Will Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi shine in this festive box-office battle? All eyes are on January 14.
