Sivakarthikeyan has responded to growing rumours that he could become the ‘next Thalapathy’ after Vijay retires from films. He made it clear that Vijay will always remain like an elder brother to him and strongly denied claims that he was trying to attract Vijay’s fans.

The talk began after Vijay, popularly known as ‘Thalapathy’, announced his retirement from cinema following his upcoming film Jananayagan. He will then step into full-time politics and contest the 2026 elections with his own party. His decision has left fans and industry watchers wondering who might fill his place in Tamil cinema.

Social media has since been buzzing with hashtags such as ‘kutty thalapathy’, ‘next thalapathy’, and ‘future thalapathy’. Sivakarthikeyan’s name was among those widely discussed, sparking speculation that he could rise as Vijay’s successor.

But Sivakarthikeyan firmly rejected this idea. He said no actor can win over another actor’s fans. “Each actor earns their fans through their own work. That cannot be taken from someone else,” he stated. He reminded that he has been part of the industry for 15 years and has built his own fan base during that time. For him, that is more than enough.
He also advised fans not to pay attention to criticism or trolling online, noting that even greats like Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni have faced such negativity. “It is better not to get angry or emotional about it,” he suggested.

This was also the first time Sivakarthikeyan openly expressed his admiration for Vijay in public. While comparisons with Vijay led to the speculation, they also gave Sivakarthikeyan the chance to show where he stands. His comments revealed his respect for Vijay and his refusal to compete for the ‘Thalapathy’ title, making his position very clear.
