Kollywood star Shruti Haasan needs little introduction. Beginning her career as a singer, she later transitioned into acting, aiming to establish her own identity in the film industry. Her early films did not fare well, earning her the label of an “iron leg” in the media. However, her fortunes changed with Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh, which brought her into the limelight and opened the doors to a string of pan-India projects.
Following her acclaimed role in Salaar, Shruti Haasan cemented her status as a pan-India beauty. She went on to share the screen with Nandamuri Balakrishna in Veera Simha Reddy and Chiranjeevi in Waltair Veerayya, both of which released in the same year and made her one of the box office queens of that season. Now, she is gearing up for her next big release — Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring superstar Rajinikanth, slated for release on 14 August.
During the promotions of Coolie, Shruti surprised fans by speaking about her favourite colour — black — and why it holds a special place in her heart. Anyone who follows her Instagram will notice that nearly 90% of her photos feature her in black outfits.
“I love black because it makes you stand out no matter where you are or who you are with,” she explained. “It suits my skin tone perfectly, and whenever I wear it, I feel an extra boost of confidence and energy. For me, it has even become a kind of sentiment.”
She also pointed out practical reasons for her choice. “With darker colours, stains are less noticeable, which is always a plus when stepping out. So, for me, black isn’t just about style; it’s the best choice for both beauty and practicality.”
Fans agree that black enhances Shruti’s striking looks, and each of her appearances in the colour seems to amplify her elegance. While black is her clear favourite, she admitted she has a fondness for other dark shades as well.
