Sameera Reddy returns to films after 13 years, thanks to her son

Sameera Reddy, well-known to Telugu audiences for her roles opposite Megastar Chiranjeevi in Jai Chiranjeeva and Jr NTR in Narasimhudu and Ashok, is making her long-awaited return to the big screen after more than a decade. Despite working alongside major stars in Tollywood, her films in the industry did not perform well at the box office, which led to a pause in her Telugu career.

Now, 13 years later, the Bollywood actress is stepping back into films with a horror project titled Chimney. She plays a mother who fights to save her daughter from an evil spirit haunting an old palace. In a recent interview, Sameera revealed that her comeback was inspired by her son.

“I last worked in films in 2012, in Tezz. I stepped away to focus on my family. But recently, my 13-year-old son watched my film Race and asked why I wasn’t acting anymore. He insisted I should return to films,” she shared. “I explained that I was busy raising my children, but now that my son is older, it felt like the right time to start my second innings.”

Sameera described her return to the set as an emotional experience. “On my first day, some of the crew called me a ‘veteran’, but I felt like I was starting fresh. When the director said ‘action’, something inside me just woke up. I’ve given my all to Chimney.”

The film’s teaser shows her moving through dark, eerie settings and facing terrifying situations, hinting at a suspense-filled and emotional storyline. Fans are excited to see her back on screen after so long.

In her personal life, Sameera married Akshai Varde in 2014, and the couple welcomed a son in 2015. While she took a break from acting, she remained active on social media and has been candid in interviews about her experiences in the industry, including the challenges of casting couch.

With Chimney, Sameera Reddy is ready to prove that she still has plenty to offer in her second innings.
