Actress Rashmika Mandanna has been appointed as the brand ambassador for the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), a significant initiative announced by the Cyber Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs. To mark this appointment, Rashmika released a special video in which she spoke candidly about her past experiences with deepfake technology.

In the video, she shared, “A few months ago, my deepfake video went viral, which was a clear case of cyber crime. After that troubling experience, I made the decision to fight against cybercrime. I wanted to raise awareness about this issue so that everyone understands its implications. I am thrilled to announce that I am now the brand ambassador for the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), which functions under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. Cybercriminals are always poised to target us, and it is not enough to be vigilant; we must take proactive steps to protect ourselves. We need to ensure that such crimes do not occur. As the brand ambassador of the Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, I am dedicated to raising awareness about these offenses. Together, we can work to safeguard our country from cybercrime.

The video, created by social media influencer Zara Patel, went viral and sparked widespread outrage. Following her experience, other deepfake videos involving various film and sports personalities also emerged, highlighting a troubling trend.
