Peddi, starring global star Ram Charan and directed by Uppena fame Buchi Babu Sana, is already making headlines—months before its release. Set in the 1980s, the movie is a village-based sports drama and is being made on a huge scale. Peddi has already broken a record with a massive ₹105 crore OTT deal with Netflix. This is said to be the highest OTT deal ever for a Telugu film so far, showing the high expectations around the movie.
Filming is happening at a fast pace, with a special set being built near Hyderabad to look like the town of Vizianagaram. This set includes not just houses but also roads, a railway station, and even an old sports stadium. Art director Avinash Kolla is leading the set design.
The film, which started with a budget of ₹250 crore, has now crossed ₹300 crore and is expected to grow further with post-production costs. But the investment seems worth it—Peddi has already created a record-breaking OTT deal.
Adding to the buzz is the star-studded cast. Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor plays the female lead, while well-known actors Shivrajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, and Divyenndu Sharma have important roles. Music legend A.R. Rahman is composing the soundtrack.
The glimpse released recently has received a thunderous response online, further boosting curiosity. Fans are especially excited to see Ram Charan in a rugged, earthy role after his pan-India success.
With its powerful team, strong storyline, and record deals, Peddi is set to become one of the biggest Telugu releases. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on March 27 next year.
