Pawan Kalyan’s OG gets ‘A’ certificate ahead of release

OG A

Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan’s upcoming film OG has officially received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), ahead of its worldwide release on 25 September. The makers had initially hoped for a U/A certificate, which would have allowed younger audiences to watch the film, but their efforts did not succeed despite following the CBFC’s suggestions and making several changes.

Advance bookings for OG are already open globally, and theatres like Yama Josh are reporting strong interest. The team recently released the trailer, which received a very positive response, leaving the makers satisfied with the promotional activities so far. Alongside this, a special poster was unveiled to mark the completion of the censorship formalities.

The ‘A’ certification means that only adult audiences above 18 will be allowed to watch the film in cinemas. Children and teenagers will be restricted, which could affect family turnout during the festive season, when many viewers usually visit theatres.

However, the makers may still benefit from the rural market. While multiplexes generally adhere strictly to CBFC rules, single-screen theatres and B & C centres in smaller towns sometimes allow more flexibility, which could help the film reach a wider audience despite the restrictions.

To further promote the movie, the team recently organised an OG concert, generating excitement among fans. With high anticipation and Pawan Kalyan’s massive fan following, expectations are high for the film’s performance at the box office.

The makers now face the challenge of turning the adult-only release into a hit, relying on the fan base and strong promotions. With the release date approaching, all eyes will be on 25 September to see whether OG can deliver a major success despite the certification limitations.
