Devara is an upcoming film featuring NTR in the lead role, directed by the renowned Koratala Siva. The film marks the Telugu debut of Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor, who has already received high praise from her co-stars. NTR, impressed by her performance, lauded Janhvi for her acting talent and remarkable memory, calling her a “wonderful person.” Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, in a recent interview, echoed NTR’s sentiments, stating, “Despite being from Bollywood, Janhvi delivered her Telugu dialogues flawlessly. I was genuinely shocked by her capability.”
The film introduces an intriguing twist to the traditional hero archetype. NTR shared his insights on this, explaining, “Usually, heroes in films represent courage, standing up for what’s right. But in Devara, my character will embody fear, showing it to those who fake bravery. This is a pure action drama, and we’ve worked incredibly hard, especially for the action sequences. One of the major highlights is a fight scene set in water, which took us 35 days to shoot in a large pool. The story unfolds in the 1980s and 1990s, and we’ve created an entirely new world for this era. The audience will be hooked within the first 15 minutes of the film.”
NTR also spoke about Saif Ali Khan, who plays a significant role in the film. “Only Saif could do justice to this role. His performance in Omkara was extraordinary, and I feel his talent has not been fully tapped into until now.”
Director Koratala Siva added, “This film is iconic for me. I’ve never worked on a project like this before. In most commercial films, fear is seen as negative, and the hero is always a symbol of courage. But in Devara, we’ve made the hero a symbol of fear. We’ve adapted this concept to fit our story, which is unlike anything I’ve done before.”
Produced by NTR Arts and Yuva Sudha Arts, Devara is being presented by Nandamuri Kalyanram, with Sudhakar and Harikrishna K. also producing the film. The movie will be released in two parts, with the first scheduled to hit theaters on September 27. In addition to NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, the cast includes Prakash Raj, Shine Tom Chacko, Ajay, and Getup Seenu in key roles. After the success of Janatha Garage, this marks the second collaboration between NTR and Koratala Siva, heightening excitement among fans.
