Nithya Menen has recently been honored as one of the National Best Actresses, a recognition she earned for her outstanding performance in the film “Thiruchitrambalam.” In an interview with a media outlet, Nithya shared her reflections on receiving the award and discussed her upcoming projects.

“This award holds immense significance for me,” Nithya expressed. “Upon receiving it, I had the opportunity to meet several jury members, which was a refreshing experience. Engaging with individuals from various backgrounds added a unique dimension to the occasion. This award is not solely for this film; it acknowledges all the roles I’ve played throughout my career.” She specifically highlighted her role as Shobana in “Thiruchitrambalam,” recalling how Dhanush, the lead actor, informed her that the character was quite challenging. “The role was distinct from anything I had done before, but I successfully brought it to life, interpreting the vision of the director and writer on screen. It brings me great joy to receive an award for a character that breaks away from traditional molds.

While many believe that only intense performances earn accolades, I think that’s a misconception, Nithya also revealed details about her future projects. “I am currently collaborating with Vijay Sethupathi on a film directed by Pandiraj. This project explores a genre I have not ventured into before, which is exciting. Additionally, I will begin shooting for ‘Golden Visa’ by the end of this year. I have also completed filming ‘Kadhalikka Neramillai’ (Tamil), which will be released soon,” she noted.

“Thiruchitrambalam,” directed by Mithran R. Jawahar, features Dhanush, Nithya Menen, and Raashi Khanna in lead roles. Released in 2022, the film was well-received and also attracted Telugu audiences under the title “Thiru.” The chemistry between Dhanush and Nithya, portraying friends, was particularly praised. The duo is set to reunite in “Idli Kadaiy,” directed by Dhanush, which will feature a rural backdrop. As Nithya continues to showcase her talent and versatility, her future endeavors promise to keep audiences captivated in the years to come.
