My Baby to stream on OTT a Day after theatre release

My Baby

The Telugu-dubbed film My Baby is surprising everyone by releasing on OTT just one day after its theatrical debut. The movie will hit theatres on July 18 and will be available for streaming from July 19.

Originally a Tamil film titled DNA, it was released on June 20 and received a positive response from audiences. Following its success, it was dubbed in Telugu as My Baby. However, due to delays in dubbing work, the OTT release is now happening just a day after the theatrical release.

This unusual move has shocked both the film industry and audiences. The trend of films arriving quickly on OTT is growing, as people prefer to wait and watch at home rather than go to cinemas—unless the movie gets strong reviews.

Because of this, OTT platforms are buying films for high prices and offering quick releases to keep viewers satisfied. But the shrinking gap between cinema and streaming is hurting box office collections. Producers and distributors are struggling to make profits, and the situation is becoming worse day by day.

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Earlier, films like Identity starring Trisha and Veda featuring Kannada star Shivarajkumar were released in cinemas and on OTT within hours of each other—and ended up with heavy losses.

With My Baby also being a dubbed film, there are fears it might face a similar fate like other quick OTT releases, which might please some viewers, but for producers, they are proving to be a risky move.
