Hombale Films has partnered with Kleem Productions to begin work on the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe (MCU), an animated series based on the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu. The project aims to present these mythological tales through animation, contemporary storytelling, and a large-scale visual format.

The first film, ‘Mahavatar Narsimha’, is directed by Ashwin Kumar and produced by Shilpaa Dhawan, Kushal Desai, and Chaitanya Desai. It will be released in cinemas on 25th July 2025 in 3D and will be available in five major Indian languages.

The newly launched promo introduces Hiranyakashipu, a powerful king whose actions lead the world into conflict and disorder. The teaser uses intense visuals and music to depict a time when Adharma, or unrighteousness, begins to take control. Hiranyakashipu is shown as a central figure whose rule challenges the natural balance.

Mahavatar Narsimha is the first in a planned series that will explore each of Vishnu’s avatars. The film includes detailed animation and visual effects, with a focus on retelling well-known stories for current audiences.

The Mahavatar Cinematic Universe builds on a long tradition of Indian mythological storytelling in film and television, but it approaches it from a new angle, structured as an interconnected series. Indian cinema has often explored epics like the Ramayana and Mahabharata, usually as standalone stories. The MCU differs by creating a shared narrative world, where each avatar’s story contributes to a larger timeline.

Future films in the universe are expected to follow a similar approach, combining mythological subjects with long-form storytelling. The series will continue to draw from ancient texts while adapting themes for a wide and diverse viewership. The creators aim to build a consistent narrative across multiple films in the same timeline, connecting past stories with a new storytelling format.
