Dil Raju’s nephew Ashish Reddy has come up with films like Rowdy Boys and Selfish. Now, he turned to a horror comic thriller like Love Me. That too, Oscar winning composer MM Keeravaani composed music for the film and veteran cinematographer PC Sreeram handled cinematography. Now, let’s discuss about the movie in detail.
Plot:
Arjun, portrayed by Ashish, is a carefree individual with a zest for adventure. He teams up with Pratap, played by Ravi Krishna and Priya, played by Vaishnavi Chaitanya, to launch a vlogging channel that highlights their thrilling escapades and debunks myths. During their journey, they stumble upon a mysterious and supposedly haunted location.
Intrigued by its lore, Arjun ventures into the eerie building, engaging in flirtatious banter with a spectral woman as he seeks to uncover her past. This fascination with the unknown and the history behind it leads them to unravel the mystery, thread by thread, revealing a backstory that is as captivating as it is expected. Analysis:
Ashish tried his best to carry the character of a carefree youth. He made every possible attempt to deliver complex emotions as a person seducing a ghost. Love Me makers tried to use his boyish charm to showcase the naivity the character needs. But the script did not have enough depth for him or his character to lighten up the screens.
Vaishnavi Chaitanya’s character did not really have a good character arc or any kind of clarity. The zigzag narrative trying to be cool and fresh did not help to understand her character’s essence. Ravi Krishna did well within the limits of the screenplay and rest all had forgettable cameos.
A veteran cinematographer like PC Sreeram could not really deliver. Few frames did showcase his commitment and skills. But the direction has been so bad that even his visuals can’t make this mess watchable. Composer MM Keeravaani tried to give some kind of depth with his background score but he couldn’t do anything.
Major problem with this film, Love Me, lies in the scripting and scenes. Narrative could have been better or at least engaging but it just runs around in circles trying to be different. While trying to be different is good, the freshness needs to have sense and direction. This one misfired on all cylinders, unfortunately for everyone involved.
Positives:
Few Visuals
Ashish’s boyish charm
MM Keeravaani’s BGM at places.
Negatives:
Weak Plot
Lackluster Narrative
Too Weird ideas
Nonsensical Screenplay
Love Me Movie Bottom-line: Highly Nonsensical
