Kota Srinivasa Rao regretted missing NTR film

Kota Srinivas Rao Death

Legendary Telugu actor Kota Srinivasa Rao, despite acting in over 750 films and earning praise in every role, carried one unfulfilled dream throughout his career—to act alongside the great Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (Senior NTR).

Kota entered the film industry just as Senior NTR moved into politics. After founding the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and becoming Chief Minister, NTR became too busy to act in films, leaving no chance for their collaboration.

In 1987, Kota played the lead role in Mandaladhishudu, directed by C. Prabhakar Reddy. The film was seen as a political satire targeting NTR’s leadership. As a result, it flopped at the box office and angered many TDP and Nandamuri fans. At one point, some even tried to physically attack Kota. However, Senior NTR chose to forgive him, showing his large-hearted nature.

Later, when NTR returned to films, Kota still didn’t get the chance to work with him. He was finally offered a role in Major Chandrakanth, directed by K. Raghavendra Rao, but due to scheduling conflicts, he had to turn it down. That role could have fulfilled his long-held wish — but it slipped away.

Although Kota never acted with Senior NTR, he found some comfort in working with NTR’s grandson, Jr NTR, in later years.

Reflecting on Kota’s legacy, Jr NTR said, “He was a unique actor who added life to every role. There will never be another like Kota garu. I’ll always treasure the moments I shared with him on screen. May his soul rest in peace.”

Kota may be gone, but his body of work and dedication to his craft continue to inspire generations in Telugu cinema.
