The controversy surrounding the adulteration of the sacred Tirumala Srivari Laddu has sparked intense discussions across the country. In the midst of this, actor Karthi’s comments about the laddu have drawn sharp criticism from Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, Pawan Kalyan. Following the backlash, Karthi issued an apology, stating that he holds great respect for Pawan Kalyan and that his remarks were misunderstood. He clarified that he, too, is a devotee of Lord Venkateswara and respects all traditions. Karthi posted his apology on social media platform X, requesting that his words not be taken out of context.

Karthi, along with Arvind Swamy, plays a key role in the film Satyam Sundaram, directed by C. Prem Kumar, which is set to release in Telugu on September 28. As part of the film’s promotions, Karthi attended a press event in Hyderabad on Monday. During the event, an anchor jokingly asked him, “Do you want a laddu?” To this, Karthi lightheartedly responded, “We shouldn’t talk about laddus right now; it’s a sensitive topic.” His comment quickly went viral on social media, causing an uproar.
In response, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan issued a stern statement, advising public figures not to make light of issues related to Sanatana Dharma (eternal religion). He urged those in the film industry to be cautious with their words. “If you speak on the topic, do so in support. Otherwise, remain silent. People will not forgive if sacred matters are mocked. Laddus are being joked about, which is hurtful,” he stated. He also added, “I have great respect for actors, but please think a hundred times before making a comment.” He specifically addressed Karthi’s remarks made during the recent film event, reminding everyone not to trivialize sensitive issues.
Pawan Kalyan further extended his warning to Prakash Raj and other public figures, asking them to be mindful of their words, especially on topics related to religion. He emphasized that secularism should not be used as an excuse to speak irresponsibly and that everyone should carefully consider the consequences of their statements.
This incident, along with Karthi’s remarks, has reignited the conversation around the sanctity of religious practices and the role of celebrities in maintaining respect for cultural traditions.
