Actor Kamal Haasan, one of Indian cinema’s most respected stars, chooses to live a simple life despite his long and successful career. His daughter Shruti Haasan has revealed that unlike many celebrities, her father never spends money on luxury cars, villas or properties abroad.
Shruti said Kamal does not focus on building wealth or assets. Instead, he has always invested his time and money in cinema. “He only knows how to make films under his own banner and lose money,” she joked. According to her, Kamal has lost more money than he has earned, because he supports new ideas and strong technical content in films without worrying about profits.
At home, Kamal prefers a modest lifestyle. He believes money is never permanent and does not chase expensive comforts. What excites him most is learning. Even now, at his age, he remains deeply interested in technology and spends freely to explore new developments. Shruti added that he also shares his knowledge with those around him, encouraging others to stay curious.
She pointed out that while many people lose interest in learning as they grow older, Kamal continues to explore new things with energy. She described him as someone who wants everyone to remain eager for knowledge, just as he does.
Success and failure, Shruti said, have never changed Kamal’s outlook of Kamal. He treats both in the same way and maintains a balance. He also advises her to approach her career with the same mindset, reminding her that neither wins nor losses should control her life.
