Kalyani Priyadarshan, daughter of Malayalam filmmaker Priyadarshan, is set to return to Telugu cinema with her latest film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra. Known for choosing roles she truly enjoys, the actress has been impressing audiences in Malayalam films. This time, she is confident that her upcoming project will also connect well with viewers.
The film, directed by Dominic Arun, stars Kalyani alongside actor Neslan. Produced by Dulquer Salmaan under his banner Wayfarer Films, Lokah will release in Malayalam and Telugu simultaneously on 28 August. In Telugu, the film is being released by Sithara Entertainments.
Speaking about the project, Kalyani expressed that Malayalam cinema is always known for experimenting with new content, and Lokah is another fresh attempt. She hopes the film’s female-centric narrative will strike a chord with audiences.
Kalyani has acted in Telugu films before, including Hello with Akhil Akkineni and Chitralahari with Sai Dharam Tej. However, after those projects, she was not seen in Telugu cinema. Whether due to a lack of offers or her own choices remains unclear, but her absence has been noticed. With New Lok, she is set to reconnect with the Telugu audience after a long gap.
During promotions, fans are expected to ask her about her future plans in Telugu cinema. In a recent interview, Kalyani also opened up about her close friendship with Pranav Mohanlal, son of superstar Mohanlal. She said they share a strong bond and know each other well, regardless of what others might say. The two had earlier worked together in Hridayam, which became a super hit in Malayalam and was praised for their on-screen chemistry.
