For all the movie lovers, June 2025 is going to be one of the most exciting months for Indian cinema in a while. With a mix of genres, languages, and big names, the lineup feels like a full-on movie festival playing out week by week.
Kicking things off on June 20, we’ve got a trio of releases that couldn’t be more different. Kuberaa, with an unusual combo casting of Nagarjuna, Dhanush, and Rashmika Mandanna, is grabbing attention for its bold title and the buzz that it might be rooted in mythology. Then there’s 8 Vasantalu, a quieter release that’s built a strong word-of-mouth following; not much is known about the plot, but early chatter suggests something thoughtful and artistic. And for those who love Taare Zameen Par, there’s another similar story from Aamir Khan’s production house, Sitaare Zameen Par, a film that seems to echo the emotional depth of the classic while bringing a unique story for today’s audience.Â
The month doesn’t slow down yet. On June 27, two big films arrive, Kannappa, based on the legendary devotee of Lord Shiva of the same name, is expected to be a visual spectacle with a lot of heart. It’s a must-watch for the fans of mythological drama. Vishnu Manchu has been actively promoting it to make sure it will be a success. He also wrote the story. The movie stars Prabhas, Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, and Kajal, among other big names in the cast. And then there’s Maargan, a Tamil film directed and edited by Leo John Paul starring Vijay Antony, which looks gritty, intense, and very current—the kind of film that starts conversations. Kajol’s Maa and Sonakshi Sinha’s Nikita Roy are also going to hit the screen on June 27. Also, Hollywood is in the race with F1 starring Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem releasing on the same day.
Whether you’re into larger-than-life stories, quiet character dramas, or something in between, this summer’s got you covered. So clear your weekends, grab some popcorn, and get ready to spend a lot more time at the movies.
