ZEE5, India’s largest homegrown video streaming platform, is excited to announce that two of its original productions, Despatch and Vikkatakavi: The Chronicles of Amaragiri, will be featured at the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024. Despatch, a crime drama starring Manoj Bajpayee, will be showcased as a special presentation on November 21st, while Vikkatakavi: The Chronicles of Amaragiri, a Telugu original series featuring Megha Akash and Naresh Agastya, will have its world premiere on November 23rd at IFFI 2024.
‘Despatch’, directed by Kanu Behl, delves into the challenges faced by investigative journalists. The film stars Manoj Bajpayee as Joy, a seasoned crime journalist who confronts the murky world of media while pursuing a high-stakes story. As Joy navigates power struggles, ethical dilemmas, and personal conflicts, the film highlights the steep cost of truth in an industry plagued by corruption. Shahana Goswami and Arrchita Agarwal also star in pivotal roles.
On the other hand, “Vikkatakavi: The Chronicles of Amaragiri” is a detective thriller set in the mysterious kingdom of Amaragiri. The series follows Ramakrishna, played by Naresh Agastya, a young investigator drawn into a case where villagers are mysteriously losing their memories after entering the Nallamalla Forest. As he uncovers a tangled web of political conspiracies, royal secrets, and a tragic past, Ramakrishna finds himself caught in a deepening mystery. Set in 1970s Telangana, the series blends historical richness with a gripping detective narrative. Directed by Pradeep Maddali, the series marks Telangana’s first-ever detective story, with Megha Akash portraying Princess Lakshmi.
The 55th IFFI will take place from November 20th to 28th, 2024, in Goa, offering a platform for global cinema and celebrating India’s cinematic legacy. Both directors expressed their excitement about showcasing their works at IFFI. Kanu Behl shared, “It’s my first time at IFFI, and I’m looking forward to authentic feedback from passionate festival-goers.” Pradeep Maddali also expressed his honor, saying, “It’s a great honor to showcase Vikkatakavi at IFFI, bringing Telangana’s rich history to a global audience.”
Despatch and Vikkatakavi: The Chronicles of Amaragiri will both be available for streaming on ZEE5 soon, following their IFFI premieres.
