‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ Overtakes Split at Global Box Office

Final Destination Bloodlines

The latest entry in the Final Destination series, Bloodlines, has passed a notable box office milestone — not by challenging the all-time top spot, but by surpassing the worldwide earnings of M. Night Shyamalan’s Split. The comparison matters because Split was considered one of the biggest low-budget horror success stories of the last decade, helping to revive Shyamalan’s career and becoming a major benchmark in the genre.

Now, with $280 million globally, Bloodlines has edged past Split’s lifetime haul. It’s an impressive feat for a horror sequel released among the heavy competition and already available for home viewing. Despite losing screens, the film has remained steady in earnings, placing it firmly among the top 20 highest-grossing horror films of all time.

Split which was produced in 2016 on a modest budget of $9 million and gained worldwide traction for James McAvoy’s intense portrayal of a character with multiple personalities. Its unexpected success and surprise connection to Unbreakable led to a sequel and a resurgence in Shyamalan’s reputation. For Bloodlines to outperform it financially is a strong indicator of its popularity.

Critically, the Final Destination Bloodlines has also done well, holding a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and appealing to both longtime fans and younger audiences discovering the franchise for the first time. It’s the second horror hit of the year for Warner Bros., who also released Sinners, which has already crossed $360 million worldwide.

Though it may fall just short of the $300 million mark, Bloodlines has clearly cemented its place as a major success, proving that the franchise still has strong box office power after more than two decades.
