The Telugu social drama Dhandoraa has successfully completed the censor process and is ready to hit cinemas on 25 December, making it a key Christmas release. The film has been given a U/A certificate, which means it can be watched by viewers under 16 with parental guidance.
Dhandoraa is a rural-based film that focuses on deep-rooted social issues, especially those linked to caste and traditional practices in village life. The story aims to reflect harsh realities while encouraging discussion and awareness among audiences. Because of its sensitive subject, the censor board carefully reviewed the film before approving it.
During the certification process, the makers were asked to make several changes. Certain strong words were muted, and a few dialogues and subtitles were modified to avoid offence. References that could directly point to specific communities or create social tension were softened. After these edits were completed, the board cleared the film for release.
The film features Sivaji in a powerful lead role, supported by actors such as Navdeep, Nandu, Bindu Madhavi and Ravi Krishna. Sivaji’s performance is said to be intense and emotional, marking an important film in his career. The cast and crew believe the film will connect with audiences because of its realistic approach and strong message.
Directed by Murali Kanth Devasoth and produced by Ravindra Benerjee Muppaneni, Dhandoraa is positioned as a serious social drama rather than a typical commercial entertainer. The makers have stated that the film is meant to start conversations and reflect society as it is, without unnecessary glamour.
The film has also been in the news due to comments made by Sivaji at a pre-release event, which led to criticism on social media. The actor later issued an apology, clarifying that his intention was not to offend anyone.
With censor clearance secured and promotions under way, Dhandoraa is expected to draw attention during the festive season. Audiences are keen to see how the film handles its bold themes when Dhandoraa releases on Christmas Day.
