Bollywood stars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have recently faced surprising career setbacks. Deepika lost opportunities in two major pan-India films alongside Prabhas, despite being offered the roles. Makers announced that she would no longer be part of Sandeep Vanga’s Spirit and Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD sequel. These losses reportedly cost her nearly ₹40 crore in earnings.
Adding to the shock, several big corporate brands have started choosing Alia Bhatt over Deepika for endorsements. Notably, the renowned brand Gucci, which once had Deepika as its ambassador, has now appointed Alia Bhatt in that role.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh has also missed several high-profile opportunities. He was set to star in Shankar’s Aparichit remake but withdrew from the project. Later, he was supposed to appear in Prashant Verma’s Brahmastra spin-off Brahma Rakshas, but creative differences reportedly led to his exit. Other prestigious projects that Ranveer was attached to have also stalled due to unforeseen reasons.
Rumours have circulated that Ranveer was expected to star as the superhero in the Shaktimaan remake. However, the project has faced repeated delays. Filmmaker Mukesh Khanna, who owns the rights, is reportedly unwilling to let others handle the film. Reports suggest Khanna even rejected Ranveer’s involvement, hinting that a South Indian star might take the role instead. Additionally, creative differences with director Basil Joseph contributed to the uncertainty, leaving the project in limbo. So far, Ranveer has not clarified his involvement.
On a positive note, Ranveer is still set to star in the upcoming Don 3, directed by Farhan Akhtar. He is also exploring other promising projects, including those under director Aditya Dhar. Despite recent setbacks, both Deepika and Ranveer continue to maintain strong fan followings and remain key figures in Bollywood.
