Niharika Konidela on her Pink Elephant banner gave young director Yadhu Vamsi, the chance to narrate his story. Let’s discuss about the film, in detail.

Analysis::
Telugu Cinema did not produce many ensemble films and in that aspect, Committee Kurrollu is different. It doesn’t try to concentrate on only one person’s story but tries to be a story of the group. While this acts as a positive to the film, it also acts as a negative. The film finds it difficult to focus on one point and the narrative goes from being a nostalgic re-union story to political revolution.

The idea of the director, Yadhu Vamsi, is plausible. He wanted to narrate the story of a group of friends from rural village trying to figure out how “system” can bring, encourage and thrive on the communal differences playing with trump cards like financial issues, greed, gratitude. With too many things cramped in, Committee Kurrollu fails to really connect us with one issue or one path of narrative.

Yes, it is a story of evolution and director tries to narrate it as such. But his solution that is, change in “existing system”, should have been core point of the film. With focus being on that aspect, Committee Kurrollu might have been more hard-hitting drama that arrests us and forces us to think. Here, the ideas are visible and appreciable but they seem to be narrated in a very zigzag way. Hence, the film remains a decent effort in trying to narrate a cohesive evolution of a group against “systematic oppression” yet remains incohesive.

Committee Kurrollu has a talented ensemble cast

Ensemble cast performances are life of the film. Each and everyone are cast perfectly to their roles. They even managed to carry the narrative on their shoulders with likeable performances. Singer turned composer Anudeep Dev’s music also works like a soul to this film. On the whole, these Committee Kurrollu manage to entertain but don’t realise their full potential.

Positives:
Nostalgic moments
Rural vibe
Ensemble cast performances
Songs and BGM

Negatives:
Unfocused narrative
Lack of cohesive flow
Lacks clarity in final goal
Depends too much on nostalgia

Committee Kurrollu Bottom-line: Decent effort
