Telugu film icon Chiranjeevi has approached the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police to file a formal complaint against online users who have been posting abusive and defamatory content about him on social media platforms. The actor lodged the complaint on 26 October 2025, urging authorities to take strict action against those spreading vulgar and false information targeting him.
According to reports, the veteran star was deeply disturbed by the continuous stream of abusive posts, many of which contained offensive language and personal attacks. Chiranjeevi identified certain social media accounts, including one under the name “Daya Chowdary,” which had allegedly shared inappropriate remarks about him despite a court order already in place to protect his image and reputation.
In his complaint, Chiranjeevi stated that these online posts were not only defamatory but also emotionally distressing, affecting both him and his family. He emphasised that freedom of expression should not be misused to spread hatred or harm someone’s personal dignity. The actor also appealed for stronger online monitoring and stricter penalties for individuals engaging in such harassment.
Earlier this year, Chiranjeevi had obtained an interim order from the Hyderabad City Civil Court, preventing anyone from using his name, image, or likeness for any purpose without his permission. This legal move came after the circulation of fake or misleading content featuring the actor’s image on social media. Despite this, the recent wave of abusive posts has prompted him to take further action.
The Cyber Crime Police are expected to begin an investigation into the complaint by Chiranjeevi soon. Officials will trace the accounts involved and verify the nature of the offensive material. The case once again brings attention to the rising issue of online abuse faced by celebrities, who often become easy targets for anonymous users and digital trolls.
Chiranjeevi’s action serves as a reminder that cyberbullying and online defamation can have real-world consequences and that public figures, too, deserve protection from digital harassment.
