Director JSS Vardhan, who recently completed the film Beauty, has shared an interesting behind-the-scenes story during the film’s promotions. The movie, produced under Zee Studios and Vanara Celluloid banners, stars Ankit Koya and Neelakshi in the lead roles. It is set to release on 19 September.
Speaking about the trailer, which ends with a lip-lock scene, the director revealed that the actor was extremely shy while shooting it. According to Vardhan, the actor initially said he would do the scene only once because he felt very uncomfortable. However, before the actual take, he practised the scene around 12 times.
To make his co-star feel at ease, the actor rehearsed by placing his hand in between, ensuring the actress was comfortable. The director said she was a little nervous, but the actor handled the situation carefully so she did not feel awkward. After every practice, he would ask if the lighting and camera angles were fine.
Vardhan added that the actor’s efforts were because he wanted the scene to be perfect in a single shot. The director confirmed that when they finally filmed it, the kiss scene was captured in just one take. Even the censor board did not ask for any cuts, as it came out naturally and fitted well with the story. “When I asked him for another take, he simply glared at me angrily,” the director joked.
Beauty is described as a youthful, feel-good love story. It explores the bond between a middle-class father and daughter while also presenting the romance of a young couple. The trailer has already received positive response, with some viewers comparing the film’s freshness to movies like Baby and Court. Director Vardhan expressed full confidence in his film and believes it will connect strongly with audiences.
