Barbarik director Mohan Srivats breaks down over poor attendance

Tollywood’s latest film Tribandhari Barbarik director, Mohan Srivats, has recently made headlines for an emotional reason. Although the film has received positive reviews, the director broke down in tears after seeing very few people attending its screenings.

Mohan Srivats shared that he spent two years working hard on this project without compromising on quality or content. He said the production values were high, the story was fresh, and the team gave their best. However, when he visited a theatre to watch the film, he was shocked to see only ten people present. In order to support the show and ensure it was not cancelled, he himself bought two tickets.

After the screening, he asked the audience for their opinion without revealing that he was the director. The viewers praised the film and said it was well made, but they too were surprised by the lack of crowds. When Srivats revealed his identity, they hugged him and repeated their appreciation.

Later, when he visited another screen in the same theatre, he noticed that a Malayalam film was running with almost 90 percent occupancy. This left him wondering why his film, despite being good, had not attracted audiences. Overcome with emotion, he cried and even hit himself with his shoe. The video of this moment went viral on social media, sparking discussions online.

Speaking about the incident, the director explained that his wife also left the theatre midway, upset by the situation. His producer later consoled him, reminding him that they had not made any mistakes and that audience turnout was beyond their control.

Tribandhari Barbarik was released on 29 August with a strong cast including Sathyaraj, Vasishta N. Simha, Satyam Rajesh, Udayabhanu, Kranti Kiran and Sanchi Roy. Though the Barbarik is receiving good reviews, its low theatre occupancy has deeply affected the director.
