Actor and Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Nandamuri Balakrishna has once again proven that his heart is as big as his star power. Balakrishna stepped in to help his fan, Badriswamy, who has been battling a serious liver disease for several months.
Badriswamy, a resident of Adoni in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, has been struggling with his health and financial condition. Doctors estimated that the total cost of his treatment would be approximately ₹20 lakh—a sum far beyond what Badriswamy and his family could afford. With no other options, they turned to the actor he admired most.
The issue was brought to Balakrishna’s attention by Sajjada Hussain, the president of the Balakrishna Fans Association in Adoni. Deeply moved by the suffering of his fan, Balakrishna responded without delay. In his capacity as the MLA of Hindupur, he worked to secure ₹10 lakh from the Andhra Pradesh state government by issuing a Letter of Credit (LOC) under the health support scheme.
What made the gesture even more personal and touching was that Balakrishna’s wife, Vasundhara, personally handed over the LOC document to Badriswamy. This act highlighted not only Balakrishna’s commitment to helping people in need but also his family’s involvement in public service and welfare activities.
Balakrishna, fondly referred to as NBK by fans, has long been admired not just for his acting skills but also for his philanthropic efforts. He plays a leading role in managing the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, which offers high-quality treatment at affordable costs.
At present, NBK is busy filming Akhanda 2, the sequel to his blockbuster Akhanda, under the direction of Boyapati Srinu. The film is expected to hit screens during the upcoming Dasara festival.
Despite his busy schedule, Balakrishna’s swift action in supporting Badriswamy has earned widespread appreciation. His compassion and timely help are a reminder of why he is respected both on screen and in real life—as a star who shines through service.
