Anupama Parameswaran is taking an unusual approach to promoting her upcoming film Paradha, she revealed in a recent interview that she plans to wear a veil and roam around Hyderabad’s iconic Charminar as part of the film’s marketing campaign.
Directed by Praveen Kandregula, Parada sees Anupama in a challenging lead role, one she says required significant effort to portray. Known for enjoying unconventional promotions, she has already appeared in interviews wearing the parada (veil). Now, she intends to take it a step further by stepping into public spaces in disguise.
“I’ve always wanted to roam around Charminar freely,” Anupama Parameswaran said. “This time, I’m going to do it wearing the veil as part of my promotions.” Her statement quickly went viral, with fans playfully speculating about spotting her in the bustling streets.
The film itself tackles serious themes. Set in a village where traditions heavily favour men, the story follows Anupama’s character, who rebels against these customs and embarks on a long journey with strangers. Along the way, she disappears, sparking a series of events that put her in danger and turn the village against her.
Parada is scheduled to release on 22 August. The makers are going for bold marketing, with director Praveen Kandregula even challenging audiences to watch the film only after reading reviews. He has openly stated that he values revenue over fame.
With its strong subject matter and quirky promotions, Parada has already become a hot topic online. Whether audiences encounter Anupama in person during her veiled Charminar walk remains to be seen, but the buzz is working in the film’s favour.
