Popular Telugu film actor Akkineni Nagarjuna on Wednesday donated Rs. 2 crore to ANR College in Gudivada, Andhra Pradesh, to support scholarships for students. The donation was announced during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the college, which has completed 75 years of service in the field of education.

Nagarjuna attended the event as the chief guest and formally inaugurated a newly constructed building on the college campus. The occasion was emotional and meaningful, as he also paid tribute to his father, legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR). In 1959, ANR had donated Rs. 1 lakh to the same college, showing his strong belief in the power of education.

Speaking at the event, Nagarjuna said that although his father did not receive formal education, he deeply valued learning and knowledge. “My father was not formally educated, but he had a great love for education. Even without having the opportunity to study himself, he worked to create a better future for thousands of people. Following his vision, I am happy to announce a donation of Rs. 2 crore to provide scholarships for students,” Nagarjuna said.

The donation will be used to support deserving and needy students, helping them continue their studies without financial burden. College authorities expressed their gratitude and said the contribution would make a lasting impact on many young lives.

Several well-known personalities attended the programme, including Naga Susheela, Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad and Gudivada MLA Venigandla Ramu. Students, staff and alumni took part in the celebrations with great enthusiasm. The event highlighted the strong connection between the Akkineni family and the institution.

ANR College was established in 1950 and has played an important role in providing quality education to students from Gudivada and nearby areas. The generous donation by Nagarjuna has once again underlined the college’s commitment to education, social welfare and equal opportunities for students from all backgrounds.
