Aamir Khan has officially confirmed that he’s working on a biopic based on the life of Dadasaheb Phalke, the man often referred to as the father of Indian cinema. In a recent interview, Aamir revealed that the project is currently in its early stages, with pre-production already underway. The film is expected to begin shooting sometime next year.

The movie will be directed by Rajkumar Hirani, known for his heartfelt and humorous storytelling. This marks another exciting collaboration between the two, following their success with PK. Naturally, the news has sparked excitement among fans, who are eager to see how this important chapter of Indian film history will be brought to life.

This announcement follows reports from a few weeks ago which claimed that both Aamir Khan and Jr NTR were working on separate biopics about Phalke. The idea of two major stars telling the same story led to concerns among cinema lovers about unnecessary comparisons, box office clashes, and confusion in the audience. But with Aamir now officially moving ahead, and Jr NTR appearing to shift his focus to a new film with director Trivikram, it seems that only one version of the biopic will go forward. While NTR hasn’t made any public statement, the lack of updates suggests he may have stepped back from the idea.

Speaking about the upcoming project, Aamir described it as a powerful and inspiring story. “It’s not the kind of film that depends on big action or flashy visuals,” he explained. “It’s about a man who dared to dream beyond his time, who took risks and followed his passion when the idea of cinema itself was brand new in India.”

Aamir also confirmed that the film will carry director Rajkumar Hirani’s signature style—blending drama with warmth and humour. “Though it’s a serious and emotional subject, there will still be that touch of humour and humanity that Raju brings to all his films,” he added.

The film aims to honour Dadasaheb Phalke’s legacy, capturing both the challenges he faced and the vision he had for storytelling in India. With Aamir’s dedication and Hirani’s storytelling skills, this biopic is already shaping up to be a memorable cinematic tribute.

More details about casting and release timelines are expected in the coming months.
