Instagram Gets Backlash For Subscription Trend: Instagram is a social platform which is widely used across various countries. From film stars to athletes, from politician to international leaders, to everyone, Instagram has been one of the primary spaces to stay in touch with the audience or citizens. For various reasons, Instagram has caught the attention of the users and has become one of the most used apps on a daily basis. From reels to stories and posts, we do it all. But what is Meta trying to do with Instagram and what is hidden behind likes and comments on this app.
Instagram Gets Backlash For Subscription Trend
Instagram is known for its viral trends and most of them are related to fashion or skincare or entertainment. But what is trending now, is not really something Instagram should be proud of. ‘Instagram Subscription Trend’ has started, this means, users pay a certain amount for the influencers to have access to premium content which is limited to the users that pay. Now, this looks as simple as Netflix and spotify. But does it have to be? No. Because, Netflix and spotify are like a platform where they offer entertainment and users pay and watch it.
But when it comes to Instagram, this is a social platform where people stay connected and share their moments with everyone. While this app started gaining popularity for bringing everyone closer as a network, it is losing its essence by bringing up misleading trends. The idea of subscription trend may be useful but the post implementation response says otherwise.
Many users who wanted to be actors or singers but couldn’t have ended up as influencers. While that is their personal choice, there are influencers who bring awareness on important things and there are influencers who just use trends to stay on limelight. But this subscription? to useful and informative influencers, this might be a hit, but for fake influencers? all they do is dance and tiktok videos and users are paying to watch them do it as premium content is not a productive move.
This promotes unproductive methods to make money, as long as there are influencers who call the skin show and trending hook steps as premium content and users who pay to watch them, the next worst thing would be this kind of influencers on trend as they are making money. This can be a downfall for informative content creators. This, on the other hand, promotes something so useless that youth might start wasting their money on this type of content and actually get influenced by this. Instagram Subscription Trend for premium content is not a bad idea, but allowing every influencer to use it without verifying what type of content they are calling premium or approving meaningless content for Instagram Subscription is not really a smart move.
