Trump sparks confusion over Iran, snubs Ukraine at G7

In a press conference on 18 June, U.S. President Donald Trump caused confusion and concern after admitting his government has no clear plan for dealing with Iran, even as tensions rise between Israel and Iran. Despite using strong language in recent weeks and making direct threats to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Trump avoided answering whether the U.S. would support Israeli military actions or what steps Washington might take next.

Meanwhile, the situation in Israel continues to worsen. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the country is facing “many painful losses” as the conflict with Iran escalates. In a national address, Netanyahu spoke emotionally about the impact on both civilians and soldiers, as missile attacks continue and violence grows.

At the same time, President Trump made headlines at the G7 summit in Canada by leaving early. He cancelled a scheduled meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who had travelled thousands of miles to ask for stronger support after a deadly Russian missile strike on Kyiv.

In another surprise move, the U.S. blocked a joint G7 statement that would have strongly condemned Russia’s actions. According to sources, Trump’s team argued that such wording could harm future talks with Moscow.

Trump’s recent moves have left many questioning his foreign policy priorities, especially as conflicts in the Middle East and Eastern Europe continue to escalate. Critics say his unpredictable approach risks isolating key allies and weakening the global response to growing threats.
