Stock Markets Update: Indices ended with losses

Stock Markets after consecutive gains registers losses

Stock Markets registered losses after huge benchmarks in previous sessions on 16th January, 2024. Traders have decided to sell-off their stocks in IT sector due to major gains. International Stocks Markets did not much effect on trading in this session. Hence, BSE lost 199.16 points to close at 73,128.77 and Nifty lost 65.15 points to close at 22,032.30 mark.

BSE Sensex started trading higher than previous closing at 73,331.95 mark and then continued to trade between 73,427.59 to 72,960.29 range. Index started off on a high. During the mid-session, traders sold off their holds of big company stocks. Towards the end, it recovered slightly and BSE ended the trading session at 73,128.77 by losing 199.16 points.

Nifty Sensex started trading at 22,080.50 mark and it hit highest for the day at 22,124.15. Nifty50 hit the lowest at 21,969.80. Index started off continuing the gains. But slowly it started off losing those gains as traders kept selling off their IT stock holds. Hence, Nifty50 ended by losing 65.15 points on 22,032.30.

Indian Rupee traded at Rs.83.10 against US Dollar on 16th January, 2024. HCL, Wipro, NTPC, Infosys, Reliance Industries stocks have lost huge. Tata Steel, Titan, ITC, Maruthi Suzuki, L&T shares have registered gains. Stock Markets have registered huge gains on the back of Quarter results of IT companies. But during this session traders went for selling them off for huge gains.
