Stock Markets reported losses on the special session on 20th January, 2024. Traders have been seen selling off their holds in this special session. Stock Markets have been open for Saturday to compensate for 22nd January, 2024 session. Banking stocks registered gains but other big stocks lost. Hence, BSE lost 259.58 points to close at 71,423.65 and Nifty lost 50.60 points to close at 21,571.80 mark.
BSE Sensex started trading at huge benchmark at 72,008.30 mark and then continued to trade between 72,026.26 to 71,312.71 range. Index plummeted soon to huge losses. It never really recovered till the end of the session. Hence, BSE ended the trading session at 71,423.65 by losing 259.58 points.
Nifty Sensex started trading high at 21,706.15 mark and it hit highest for the day at 21,720.30. Nifty50 hit the lowest at 21,541.80. Index started above 21,700 mark but did not maintain the same even for two hours. Towards the end, it did recover a little. Hence, Nifty50 ended by losing 50.60 points on 21,571.80.
Indian Rupee traded at Rs.83.12 against US Dollar on 20th January, 2024. Kotak Mahindra Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI, HDFC Bank, PowerGrid Corporation shares have been Top Gainers. Hindustan Unilever, TCS, Mahindra & Mahindra, IndusInd Bank, HCL Tech shares have been Top Losers. Stock Markets will be closed on 22nd January, on the occasion of Ayodhya Ram Mandir inauguration.
