Alyssa Healy feels it is harsh to host World Cup in Bangladesh

Australian captain Alyssa Healy objected about Women’s ICC T20 World Cup being conducted in Bangladesh. She called it a “country that is struggling” and remarked that ICC’s decision is “hard to fathom”. Post the ousting of PM Shaik Hasina from Bangladesh, due to outbreak of protests against quota in reservation, the country is still to return to normalcy.

Alyssa Healy opined that it would be like forcing a country that is struggling to divert their resources in a tough time on cricket. She remarked that it would be harsh on citizens of the country to forget all the hardships and enjoy the sport. She continued to state that ICC should be able to find an alternative host pretty soon. She concluded that it would be hard to fathom, if ICC sticks to Bangladesh as host.

Australian captain Alyssa Healy is one of the legends of modern day Women’s White ball Cricket. Along with Ellyse Perry, she has been playing for her country from past decade. She grew into becoming a dependable wicket-keeper batter, bludgening opposition bowlers in the powerplay. She famously, knocked India out of any hope to win World Cup in the final of CWC 2020 at home.

Australia has completed hat-trick in winning T20I World Cups with 2018, 2020 and 2022, held in 2023, wins. Legendary captain, Meg Lanning took retirement post 2023 win and Alyssa Healy has become full-time captain for Australian women’s team, now. While India declined already, the chance to host, ICC is looking at alternatives that include UAE, Sri Lanka. The World Cup is going to be held from 3rd October till 20th October.
