India is playing T20 Cricket competition in Asian Games 2022. AOC has decided to hold Cricket Competition in Hangzhou, China. India Women have won Gold medal in this competition already. Now, Indian Men’s team is looking to become Asian Games champion after winning Asia Cup, recently. While major seniors team is gearing up to play in CWC 2023. Now, players who did not make it to World Cup squad are playing in Asian Games. India won their quarter-final clash against Nepal to reach Semi-finals.
India won the toss and elected to bat first. On a difficult pitch, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad started very conservatively. Ruturaj Gaikwad(25) and Tilak Verma(2), Jitesh Sharma(5) got out quickly. Shivam Dube(25) and Rinku Singh(37) gave a great finish to the innings.
Prior to that Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his maiden T20I century for India. He scored 100 in 48 balls and got out immediately. India scored 202/4 in 20 overs because of his brilliance. Sandeep Lamichhane(1/28), Dipendra Singh Airee(2/31) and Sompal Kami(1/38) took wickets for determined Nepal.
In the chase, Nepal batters tried their best to achieve the difficult target. Dipendra Singh Airee(32) and Sundeep Jora(29) tried their best in the middle overs. But they did not get rollicking start as they wished for. India limited Nepal to 179/9 in 20 overs and won the match by 23 runs. Ravi Bishnoi(3/24), Sai Kishore(1/25), Avesh Khan(3/23) and Arshdeep Singh(2/43) took wickets for India.
Now, the team will be looking to face either Bangladesh or Malaysia in their Semi-Final. On the other hand, Pakistan won their Quarter-final too after a bad start. India vs Pakistan final cannot be dismissed at this point in Asian Games, 2022.
