
WPL – Women’s Premiere League, the women’s cricket version of Indian Premiere League, IPL, has started off with high class box office entertainment. Mumbai Indians Women took on Gujarat Giants Women team on the first day of the tournament. Harmanpreet Kaur scored 65 runs from 30 balls and made the night memorable. WPL has taken off with Kiara Advani performing on the first day and the stadium saw huge number of supporters. The organizers have brought in, all kinds of stars from Women’s Cricket and they are ready to set the stage on fire. WPL seems to follow IPL in giving box office entertainers of matches.
Hayley Matthews (47) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (23) took on Gujarat Giants bowling in the powerplay. Keeping the momentum going Harmanpreet Kaur blasted 65 runs off 30 balls. IPL had Brendon McCullum score 158 runs in the first match and Harmanpreet Kaur gave WPL exciting start. Amelia Kerr (45) has become recent crush for many viewers with her looks and stylish batting style. WPL saw Mumbai Indians Women crush Gujarat Giants on the first day.

Dayalan Hemalatha scored 29 of 23 in chase but she could not save Gujarat Giants Women from embarrassment. They have gotten all-out for 64 runs in 15.1 overs. Mumbai Indians Women seem to be as strong as IPL team. WPL will find more support in coming days with such matches to look forward. Also, BCCI by giving teams to known franchises have brought in fans of those franchises into the scheme of things, very intelligently.
