
Temba Bavuma tried his best to give South Africa victory against West Indies in a big chase. South Africa won easily against West Indies in the Test series. The first ODI got abandoned without a ball being bowled. Temba Bavuma scored 144 runs in the chase but he did not find any support against West Indies bowling. West Indies scored 335/8 in 50 overs and South Africa lost by 48 runs. Temba Bavuma helped South Africa to score quickly but in 41.4 overs they got all-out for 287.
West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. Brandon King (30) and Kyle Mayers (36) gave them good start. But South Africa bowlers quickly reduced them to 71/3. Captain Shai Hope scored 128 from 115 balls to help his team reach 335/8. Rovman Powell (46), Nicholas Pooran (39) did well. Temba Bavuma tried to repeat Shai Hope effort but he did not find support in the middle. Gerald Coetzee (3/57), Bjorn Fortuin (2/57), Tabraiz Shamsi (2/62) took wickets for South Africa. Quinton de Kock (48) and Temba Bavuma started chase for South Africa, sensationally.

Quinton de Kock has hit 48 runs off just 26 balls with 3 sixes. In the rest of the batsmen, except Tony de Zorzi (27) no one really stayed at the crease. Temba Bavuma in his 144 has hit 7 sixes and 11 boundaries. Still, the pressure on him kept increasing has he ran out of partners. South Africa suffered defeat against West Indies as they did not take their opponent seriously. Temba Bavuma could have took them to victory with one good partnership after the start. Shai Hope has been declared as Player of the Match.
