Sunil Gavaskar has been among the first true blue Superstars for Indian Cricket. He scored runs all round the world and became the first batsmen to score 10,000 Test Runs. He has been part of 1983 World Cup Winning Squad and in 1985, he won World Champsionship as Captain. Sunil Gavaskar, since his retirement, has become one of the most respected voices of Cricket as a commentator. He expressed anger against the supporting comments towards Indian Cricketers.

Sunil Gavaskar asked BCCI to cut pay of those non-performers in ICC tournaments or at International level. He said, “The same players play in leagues by travelling in short gaps and there they don’t complain about pressure of playing every match. But when playing for India, they tend to come up with pressure excuses and fatigue. This is unacceptable.”

Sunil Gavaskar further said, “Stop supporting non-performers. They are being given opportunity represent their country on the International stage and also being paid for it. When leagues don’t put them under pressure with so much work load in short period of time, how come they feel more pressure playing for India in even shortest period of time. No player should offer their fitness as an excuse. They are expected to look after themselves and if they are unfit they should not be picked. These kind of excuses cannot shield non-performers. When you say we are going to cut pay, you will see many more cricketers performing better.”

Well, Indian players did not play at their best in the Semi-Final of ICC T20 World Cup against England. And some experts offered that Indian players are crumbling under pressure. Sunil Gavaskar made these comments in response to those statements. India will play against New Zealand from 18th November till 30th November. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ashwin won’t be playing and Hardik Pandya is given captaincy. VVS Laxman will be Head Coach during the series as Rahul Dravid is given rest.
